project consists of transporting bridges, girder sections, and
components to the main work site on Mitkof Island, removing and
replacing the existing running surface on 5 bridges, replacing the
treated center plank on 5 bridges, replacing all connection bolts,
nuts, and washers on 5 bridges, replacing diaphragms and cross bracing
on 1 bridge, and sandblasting and painting 3 bridges. The bridges are
at various locations on Kuiu and Kupreanof Islands. All bridges on
Kuiu Island are accessible by motor vehicle from the Kuiu Island road
system. A 9,449 mm (31 ft) glulam bridge, a 17,069 mm (56 ft) glulam,
two girder bridge section, and a 12,192 mm (40 ft) Hamilton EZ-Bridge
are located at the Rowan Bay Log Transfer Facility (LTF). A 12,192 mm
(40 ft) Hamilton EZ-Bridge is located on a spur off of Forest
Development Road (FDR) 6404 at kilometer 5.63, a distance of 5.63
kilometers from the Rowan Bay LTF. The last bridge on Kuiu Island is a
9,144 (30 ft) Hamilton EZ-Bridge located in a rock pit at kilometer
3.22 on FDR 6402 approximately 27.24 kilometers from the Rowan Bay LTF.
The Rowan Bay LTF is located approximately 81 air kilometers and 145
water kilometers west of Petersburg, Alaska. Access to Rowan Bay is by
boat or float plane only. A 18,288 mm (60 ft) Hamilton EZ-Bridge is
located in a rock pit located on FDR 6030 at kilometer 0.16,
approximately 18.38 kilometers from the Kake barge landing. The bridge
is accessible by motor vehicle from Kake. Kake is approximately 66 air
kilometers and 99 water kilometers north west of Petersburg, Alaska.
Access to Kake is by boat or float plane only. A 21,336 mm (70 ft)
Hamilton EZ-Bridge is located in the sort yard at the Portage Bay LTF.
Portage Bay is approximately 26 air kilometers and 32 water kilometers
north west of Petersburg, Alaska. Access to Portage Bay is by boat or
float plane only. The main work site is a rock pit on Mitkof Island at
kilometer 3.61 on FDR 6241. The rock pit is accessible by motor
vehicle from Petersburg. All responsible sources may submit an offer
