The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC is comtemplating an award of a sole source contract to KDI Precision Products, Inc. 3975 McMann Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45245 for the production of 450 each prototype units of a modified M234 Self-Destruct (SDF) and 150 each basic (unmodified) M234 SDF units. The modified M234 SDF will integrate a Setback Lock Mechanism that will support the Navy's EX172 High Explosive, Improved conventional Munition (HE-ICM) 5-Inch 54-Caliber Cargo Projectile Program. This procurement quantity of M234 SDFs will support Army enginering tests and Navy cookoff tests to assess realiability and design integrity of the Setback Lock Mechanism in the modified SDF for use in the Navy cargo projectile.
