Space Administration (NASA) is releasing a Research Announcement (NRA
99-OSS-03) entitled ASTRO-E Guest Observer Program (Cycle 1) that
solicits proposals for participation in the NASA Office of Space
Science program to acquire and analyze scientific data from the joint
Japanese-U.S. ASTRO-E X-ray observatory. This Research Announcement is
the first for ASTRO-E guest observations and solicits proposals for
observations to be carried out beginning about August 1, 2000, and
lasting nine months. Participation is open to all categories of
organizations within the U.S. including industry, educational
institutions, nonprofit organizations, NASA centers, and other
Government agencies. The nature of the bilateral agreement between the
U.S. and Japan prevents NASA from considering proposals from
organizations outside the U.S. Upon its release date, this Research
Announcement will be available electronically through the selection
