The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) intends to award a sole-source contract to International Transducer Corporation (ITC), Santa Barbara, California to develop an improved version of the TR-341/BQN-13 Submarine Sonar Distress Beacon Transducer. ITC designed, tested, and built the TR-341/BQN-13 transducer in 1985. This transducer design required special manufacturing techniques to ensure successful UNDEX testing and 3000 psi operating requirement. They have exclusively manufactured and restored all TR-341 units to date. Therefore, only ITC has extensive knowledge in manufacturing and rebuilding these units, including all the transducer's failure modes. Simplified Acquisition Procedures per FAR Part 13 will be used.
