The 20th Contracting Squadron, Shaw AFB, SC intends to procure computer network maintenance and service, on an other than full and open competitive basis, from ODS Networks, Inc. The government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Parts 12 and 13. The statutory authority is 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1, Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This requirement is for continued maintenance and service on existing network equipment manufactured by ODS Networks, Inc. ODS Networks is the only available source for the required maintenance and service and the only available source for the necessary proprietary software upgrades. This procurement will include telephone support, field engineer support, advance replacement of equipment, equipment repair/replacement, and firmware upgrades. All work is to be performed by technicians certified to work on ODS equipment. A firm-fixed price contract with 1 base year and 2 option years is contemplated. This is not a request for quotations or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation. Request for copies of a solicitation in response hereto will not be honored. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed requirement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
