This is a synopsis of the intent to procure a commercial item prepared in accordance with the format in subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) intends to procure DUO SYSTEMS' catalogue number DUO-1000, LCQ, BENCH TOP MS/MS System for HPLC (mass spectrometer, with options and accessories), from FINNIGAN CORPORATION. It will assist the Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases (LPD), in identifying novel compounds from the salivary glands of insects and ticks that affect human blood clotting, platelet aggregation, expert vasodilatation and immunomodulatory activities. The spectrometer will enable the identification of both organic compounds and protein digests of salivary proteins, speeding up the process of discovery of novel compounds. The options and accessories include a high vacuum manifold, mini-tower P.C. computer, software, and related ADP supplies; and other related devices. The DUO System includes a year's warranty, installation, basic instrument operator training, and one voucher to attend to LCQ training course at the TMQ Institute. The solicitation document, incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 11. The government shall award a fixed price purchased order to the responsible contractor. The clause at 52.212-4, Contract terms and conditions-Commercial Items applies to this acquisition.
