Services which include the following: processing of surgical, autopsy,
and cytology specimens and reading of cytology slides. Also supply
cytology collection containers with preservative. The following is an
average volume based on the past 8 years: Surgical specimens 790/year
(average of 3-4 blocks per specimen), Autopsies -- 6/year (average of
17-18 blocks per case), Cytology specimens/year: Sputum -- 281, Urine
-- 348, PAP -- 52, FNA -- 28, Body Fluid -- 19, Bronchoscopy -- 28
(some bronchoscopies had specimens form 3 different sites),
Bronchoscopy cell blocks -- 10. The turnaround time of the processing
should be less than 2 working days for surgical specimens, and 2 days
for the final reports and peer review on the cytology cases. Autopsies
should be processed within 3 weeks. We need to have the processing lab
also dispose of 10% formalin and excess tissues. Contract period will
be August 24, 1998 through August 25, 1999 with two option years.
Request for Proposal will be available July 15, 1999 and must be
requested in writing (FAX 970-244-7721). Proposal is due August 20,
1999. Award is contingent upon availability of FY 99 and FY 00 funding.
