The construction of this project will convert the existing steam distribution system serving the 3700 and 4000 blocks of Ft. Campbell to a low temperature hot water system. Modifications will be made to the central steam plant and throughout all of the buildings served to facilitate the transition to low temp hot water as a heat source. certain buildings will be remobed from the central plant distribution and will be retrofitted with stand alone steam boilers. Chilled water distribution will be replaced at the same time. All new piping will be sch 40 steel and placed in new reinforced concrete shallow trenches. Alterations to the central plant include a building addition to house the low Temp hot water heat exchangers and variable Speed pumps. Steam repiping will feed steam to the new low temp hot water converters. Some asbestos will be abated on the steam piping. Demolition includes steam vaults, piping and existing chilled water piping.
