Firm Fixed-Price Design-Build contract to reconstruct the Cooperative Bank House building which was damaged by the August 1998 bombing of the U.S. Embassy, Nairobi, Kenya. The work consists of restoring the 27-story building, located in downtown Nairobi, Kenya, to its pre-bomb condition in accordance with British Design Standards and Kenyan construction practices. A pre-proposal conference and site visit has been tentatively scheduled for August 10, 1999. Original design drawings are available on CD-ROM, together with the solicitation package, at a cost of $50.00 per set. Make check payable in U.S. currency to "USAID". Geographic Code 935 has been assigned to this project which designates authorized source countries as any country, excluding foreign policy restricted countries. The estimated magnitude of this construction project is between $5,000,000.00 and $10,000,000.00. Award will be made to the lowest priced technically acceptable and responsible offeror. Technical evaluation factors will include,but not be limited to, experience in completing similar work (design/renovation/construction of high-rise buildings in Sub-Sahara Africa); satisfactory past performance; management and execution plan.
