5th Floor, Rock Island, IL 61299-6000 Z -- PRIVATIZATION OF UTILITIES POC Contact Grant Curtis (309)782-7183
The US Army Industrial Operations Command is seeking expression of
interest in the assumption of ownership, operation, and maintenance of
the Hawthorne Army Depot, Hawthorne, NV 89415-5000, electrical,
sanitary wastewater (non-industrial), and potable water systems.
Interested sources should have the capital resources and
background/experience to own, maintain, and operate one or more of
these systems. No formal acquisition/contracting actions are
immediately forthcoming. This determination of interest is one
component required to complete a systematic evaluation of these systems
for potential privatization under the Department of Army's Utilities
Privatization Program. Interested sources should provide a statement of
interest on company. Hawthorne Army Depot is located in Mineral County,
in the west central portion of Nevada, nearly surrounding the town of
Hawthorne 135 miles southeast of Reno. The electrical system contains
approximately 92 miles of aerial and 70 underground electric
transmission line and two substations. The water system contains
approximately 250 miles of water lines, four reservoirs, seven elevated
storage tanks, and a chlorinating building. Currently the depot has a
waiver from the Nevada State Health Department, and does not filter the
potable water. The sanitary wastewater system contains approximately 30
miles of lines, one treatment facility and several small septic fields.
