The Navy requires an estimated 30 minimum each and an estimated 80 maximum each modified AN/SSQ-57A sonobuoys in accordance with Production Sonobuoy Specification (57 (XN-99)) draft dated 1 July 1999. Modifications shall consist of the following: (1) 99 channel radio frequency (RF) transmitter; (2) electronic function select (EFS); (3) built in fixed attenuation; and (4) up to three (3) calibration curves to cover all operating conditions. Each unit shall have only one of 20dB, 40dB, 60dB, or 80 dB fixed attenuation, and the Navy will procure an equal number of each attenuation. Stepladder pricing will be requested. This Request For Quotation (RFQ) is being issued on a limited competitive basis to Sparton Electronics, 5612 Johnson Lake Road, DeLeon Springs, FL, and Undersea Sensor Systems, Inc., 2101 South 600 East, Columbia City, IN in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302-1(a)(2), "When the supplies or services required by the agency are available from ... a limited number of responsible sources, and no other type of supplies will satisfy agency requirements...". The Navy will require a Certificate of Conformance. Delivery shall be F.O.B. destination to Naval Surface Warfare Center (NAVSURFWARCENDIV), Crane Division, Crane, IN 47522-5001 with delivery to be12 months after date of contract (ADC) award.
