The Bureau of Land Management proposes to negotiate a noncompetitive sole-source award for the purchase of 180,000 aerial ignition spheres, i.e. high-impact polystyrene plastic balls containing potassium permanganate and other chemicals, from Aerostat, Inc., Leesburg, Florida. This solicitation includes an option that allows for increased quantities not to exceed one hundred percent (100%) of the total contract price. The devices are used for ignition of prescribed fires on public lands for fuels management. Firms which supply equal aerial ignition spheres should submit their qualifications in writing specifically addressing their product's effectiveness in conducting ignition of prescribed fires to the Contracting Officer.
