United States Department of Defense is seeking sources for existing
technologies and devices that may be used to detect, identify, and
quantify chemical and biological (CB) agents in water supplies during
water source site selection, production, storage, and distribution to
consumers (including shower points and personnel decontamination
stations). This includes technologies and devices that collect,
concentrate, and/or extract CB contaminants from volumes of water not
less than 20 gallons to 50,000 gallons. Devices can be in-line
continuous or batch processing. The program is currently conducting a
technology selection in FY99. Priorities are high sensitivity
(ppm/ppb/ppt levels), low false alarm rate, cost, power size, and
weight. The program is scheduled for transition to EMD by FY02.
Estimate 20,000 fielded units required for advanced acquisition. To
