COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 8,1999 PSA#2383EMPACT -- ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING FOR PUBLIC ACCESS AND COMMUNITY
TRACKING This notice is being issued by the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency's EMPACT Steering Committee in Washington D.C. EMPACT
stands for Environmental Monitoring for Public Access and Community
Tracking. This is a new Presidential Initiative that provides funding
in support of projects that work with communities to collect, manage
and present environmental information. EMPACT is designed to improve
the collection, management, and delivery of accurate, timely, and
useful environmental and public-health information directly to
communities and individuals. EMPACT will put the latest technology to
work in keeping and tracking environmental conditions, present in plain
language the information the communities want to know, and ensure that
information is not only accurate but useful. The purpose of this
notice is to solicit information on real-time or time relevant
environmental monitoring technologies that can be included in research
projects or field demonstrations. Additionally, EPA will be
sponsoringa national EMPACT conference late in FY2000 to highlight
proven monitoring technologies that can and have been utilized in the
field. Vendors are asked to submit a 1.) brief (one-page) description
of their technology, 2.) provide a photo or graphic of the technology
(if available), 3.) provide proof of commerce, 4.) Third-party
evaluations or patent information, and 5.) Cost information.
