Project intent is to restore wetlands on approximately 45 acres of muck soil, located on Tag Road, Town of Canastota, Madison County, NY. Project will entail constructing: (1) a low-level, earthen berm, with core trench, to block 8 drainage ditches; (2) multiple shallow level ditches to connect existing ditches, upstream of the berm, and (3) multiple potholes (shallow excavations) to connect and broaden existing ditches. Potholes will range in size from approximately 1,000 to 20,000 sq. ft., with irregular depts of 1 to 4 feet. Shallow excavations (level ditches and potholes) will cover approximately 8-10 acres. Project will also require installation of water control structure to regulate water levels within the 45 acres. Estimated time of performance is 25 calendar days. Work must be completed prior to September 15, 1999. Estimated price range is between $25,000 and $100,000. Payment Bond will be required. Site showing will be Wednesday, July 28th at 10:00 A.M. at the Great Swamp Conservancy Office, located at the intersection of N. Main St. and Pine Ridge Rd., approximately 3 miles North of Canastota.
