Office for Tennessee has a requirement for project entitled "Relocate
Aircraft Parking Apron". Project is located within the confines of the
Tennessee Air National Guard, McGhee Tyson ANG Base, Knoxville, TN.
Work will include providing all labor, materials, equipment, and
incidentals necessary to construct a new Portland Cement Concrete(PCC)
paved aircraft parking apron and in-pavement elements of a new
aircraft hydrant refueling system. The apron scope is approximately
67,200 square yards of PCC and 9,400 square yards of asphalt paving,
and will provide parking spaces for eight (8) KC-135 aircraft. The
apron will have three ingress/egress taxiways to service two rows of
four aircraft each. In addition, elements of a new Type III aircraft
hydrant refueling system will be provided, including eight (8) new
hydrant fuel outlets and fuel piping within the apron limits.
Construction will include partial demolition of existing DOE aricraft
parking apron, demolition ofasphalt pavements, demolition of a 2,400
square foot single story concrete block building, parking area, access
roads, and removal of several underground utility lines in the
vicinity. Site improvements will include mass grading along and close
to the apron, storm drainage collection and management systems to
protect the adjacent outfall, ditches and waterways from existing and
future erosion. Other site improvements consist of upgrading and
relocating Government owned underground sanitary sewer, water,
electric, communications, and natural gas utility lines. Lawn seeding
of all new finished grade work is required. Contractor will be required
to provide gate security within and external to the project site for
the duration of the contract, and in accordance with Metropolitan
Knoxville Airport Authority and Air National Guard Security
Regulations. Magnitude of construction is between $5,000,000 and
$10,000,000. Solicitation documents, to include plans and
specifications, will be available o/a 30 July 1999 with bid opening o/a
30 August 1999. Documents may be obtained by remitting a certified
check or money order (Non-Refundable) (NO COMPANY CHECKS)for $200.00
made payable to the US Treasury. This solicitation will be issued
unrestricted therefore bids will be accepted from small as well as
