effort to support the HUBZone Empowerment Contracting Program, the U.S.
Department of Energy, Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business
Utilization will be sponsoring a HUBZone conference, Monday, July 12,
1999, in St. Louis, Missouri. HUBZones (Historically Underutilized
Business Zones) were established by the HUBZone Act of 1997, Title VI
of Public Law 105-134. The HUBZone Contracting Program is designed to
promote contracting opportunities for small businesses located in
economically distressed communities by increasing federal contracting
and encouraging economic development in historically underutilized
business zones. The purpose of the Department's HUBZone conference is
to provide information on HUBZone contracting and Department of Energy
contracting opportunities for small businesses located in economically
distressed communities. The Missouri conference will he held July 12,
1999 from 8:30 a.m. -- 4:30 p.m., at the Regal Riverfront Hotel. The
registration fee for the conference is $65.00, which includes the cost
