686-5361 The U.S. Department of Agriculture intends to procure an
scanning electron microscope operable in both conventional (high)
vacuum and low vacuum. The specifications as a minimum are: equipped
with a multiple differential vacuum system operable in range of chamber
pressures, equipped for specimen handling with inside diameter of the
chamber to be at least 284mm, shall be equipped with standard gaseous
detector, a PC to be used for controlling the microscope, standard
display screen should have a high brilliance color monitor of at least
17" diagonal, guaranteed resolution at 30KV and 7 Torr must be 3.5 nm,
continuous magnifi- cation at eucentric WD and all scan rates from 20X
to 500,000X, the instrument must be supplied with a full range of
spare parts, accessories and tools for first line service, and training
is to be provided for two operators at the governments facility,
delivered to the USDA, ARS, Southern Regional Research Center, New
Orleans, Louisiana. An IFB will be issued on or about July 20, 1999.
