Health intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis, a contract to
provide an Applied Biosystems Model 377 Automated DNA Sequencer, with
PE Biosystems. This action is taken under the authority of 41 USC 253
(c) (1) FAR 6.302-5. NIH believes that the above referenced firm is the
only source that can provide this requirement. The Applied Biosystems
model 377 is the only sequencer that meets the agency requirement. The
sequencer shall have four-color detection method, 36 lanes/gel,
templates/gel -36, shall be able to do primer label and terminator
labor, template required 0.5ug(ss) and 1.0ug(ds) and shall be able to
install specification of 550 bases (36 cm) @ 98.5% and 700 bases (48cm)
@ 98.5%. Any other firm that feels they are qualified to provide such
services must submit by the response date (15 calendar days from date
of this publication) a detailed capability statement documenting their
ability to provide this equipment by meeting the requirement stated
above. Information furnished shall include enough material to perform
a proper evaluation. Respondents will not be notified of the evaluation
results. Closing date will be 15 calendar days after publication of
