The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service intends to issue a Request for Quotations (RFQs) to conduct an archaeological survey and site assessment of the Dewatering Area, Duck River Unit, Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge, in Humphreys County, Paris, TN. The archaeological investigations will be accomplished in a phased manner involving (1) research design, (2) background and literature review, (3) survey and testing, (4) preliminary site evaluation significant to determine National Register eligibility. Personnel standards must meet the following minimal qualifications: Project Directors or Principal Investigator must have a graduate (Master's or PhD) degree; Field Archaeologist must have a B.A or B.S. degree from an accredited college or university, followed by two years of graduate study with concentration in anthropology and specialization in archaeology. For the purposes of this survey, documented knowledge and experience in Tennessee Valley prehistory and history is essential for the individuals in this role; Consultants must carry academic and experiential qualifications in their own fields of competence appropriate for the level of work they will perform on the project.
