NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service has a requirement for a
contractor to provide fish culture services on a year-round basis at
the Little Port Walter (LPW) field station on Baranof Island in
southeast Alaska. Specific research objectives at LPW station include:
(1) U.S.-Canada Salmon Treaty concerns regarding complex coast-wide
salmon issues and the need for providing more Alaska-origin chinook
salmon for Alaska fisheries; (2) studies that focus on the effects of
oil on the biology of pink salmon, including the possibility of
long-term genetic damage; and (3) long-term data sets on the population
of pink salmon. The contractor shall provide approximately 2,000 hours
of fish-culturist labor per year to assist in the following: (1)
general fish culture and rearing; (2) wet laboratory and incubation
activity; (3) maintenance and light construction; (4) fish tagging
operations; and (5) verbal, written, radio and e-mail communications
with the program office. The period of performance is from November 1,
1999 through October 31, 2000, with options for two (2) additional
one-year option periods. This is a 100 percent small business
set-aside. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which will be
