COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 13,1999 PSA#2386RESEARCH INTO BIODEGRADATION OF ORGANIC POLLUTANTS IN THE SOIL VAPOR
PHASE The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Office of
Research and Development (ORD), National Risk Management Research
Laboratory (NRMRL), plans to provide assistance to one or more
organizations doing research into the area of biodegradation of organic
pollutants in the soil vapor phase. The primary contaminant of interest
is vinyl chloride. Funding of up to $100,000 for one year for this
assistance will be provided under the Regional Applied Research Effort
(RARE) program. The research may be conducted at vinyl chloride
contaminated sites identified by EPA Region 9 in San Francisco. The
statutory authority for this research is the Comprehensive
Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, Section 311.
