COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 13,1999 PSA#2386NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE ORDER FOR FRAISES
Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, the National Park Service in
Yorktown, Virginia intends to negotiate and award a sole source
Purchase Order under the Simplified Acquisition Procedure (SAP) to
Custom Precast Inc. for the purchase of approximately 150 concrete
fraises. A determination not to compete this proposed contract has been
made to prevent the substantial duplication of cost to the government
that is not expected to be recovered through competition. Custom
Precast Inc. designed and created a unique mold that has been used int
the past to fabricate the fraises. Fraises were used in the 17th
century to fortify earthworks by creating a sharp, wooden barrier to
protect against attacking troops. The use of these 20th century
reproductions recreates historic scenes and helps visitors better
understand the events that occurred at Yorktown. Therefore, in
accordance with authority 41 U.S.C. 253 (c) (1) as implemented in FAR
6.302.1, the government intends to enter into negotiations with Custom
Precast Inc. within thirty days after publication of this notice. This
notice of intent is not a Request for Quotations. A determination by
the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon
responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the
Government. For more information or questions, please respond in
writing to the above address Attn: Laura Etheridge, or fax to
