The project consists of construction of a 1,634 S.M. steel frame structure with a standing seam metal roof to include associated sitework, landscaping and asphalt paved parking. Work includes demolition of the existing 1,420 S.M. dining facility which may include asbestos and lead based paint. Procurement and installation of major kitchen appliances will be included in the construction contract. Construction phasing: Construction of the new facility shall be the first order of work. The existing dining facility adjacent to the site shall remain operational until the new facility is operational. No work shall interfere with the operation of the existing dining facility. Within 30 days after completion of the new facility, the Government will issue notice to proceed with demolition. Bid documents are available on or about 6 August 1999. Estimated cost of work is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. Requests for plans and specifications shall indicate in writing whether firm will bid as a prime contractor or a subcontractor. Unrestricted. All responsible sources may submit a bid which shall be considered. Bidders, subcontractors and Dodge/Plan Rooms are required to self-register their firm or office on the Internet to receive one CD-ROM. Actual solicitation amendments will be issued either by fax, 3.5" diskette or CD-ROM. The plans and specifications will be issuedon Compact Disc (CD-ROM) only and will be provided free of charge. Plans and specifications will not be provided in a printed paper format; however, the Government reserves the right to revert to paper medium when it is determined to be in the Government's best interest. All bid forms, bid bonds, and other normal documents required for the bid submittal, including amendments to the bid submittal, shall be in paper medium. Electronic medium for the bid submittal documents will not be allowed. Critical Path Method (network analysis system) is required.
