This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared
in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented
with additional information included in this notice. This announcement
constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and no
written solicitation will be issued. The request for quotes document
and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through
Federal Acquisition Circular 97-11. The standard industrial
classification is 1442 with a small business size standard of 500
employees. QUOTES ARE DUE ON OR BEFORE 7/30/99 at the end of the
business day. Please provide the number of miles and the unit amount
per mile as follows: ______ of miles @ $_______/mile for a total of

include the work to furnish all labor, equipment, and supplies to
deliver and grade surface gravel, including application of water as
necessary for grading and compaction, the roadway sites located on
Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge, Road 34A. The gravel to be delivered
is pit run aggregate provided by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
The road will be graded as necessary to provide for drainage before
application of gravel. All grading will be confined to the existing
surface disturbance of the existing road bed. Gravel will be applied
and graded to not less than 6 inches of compacted surface material over
a 20 foot wide road surface (unless existing road disturbance does not
provide this width, in which case the road surface will be the maximum
that can be provided within the existing road disturbance, allowing for
drainage ditches). Water will be applied as necessary for grading and
compaction of surfacing gravel. All work to be performed is at Sheldon
National Wildlife Refuge located in the extreme northwestern corner of
Nevada. The road to be resurfaced is CountyRoad 34 A beginning at the
east end near its confluence with County Road 8A and proceeding
westward. Likely equipment needs: crawler tractor (for piling gravel at
pit), front-end loader, tractor(s) with belly-dump trailer(s), water
