The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to negotiate on other than a full and open competition basis a supplemental agreement to extend an existing requirements type contract, contract number 0600-95-22630, with Herman Miller, Inc., Zeeland, MI. The proposed sole source contract extension will be for two years effective September 20, 1999. The contract provides for the planning, design, product and installation services for ergonomic furniture workstations to designated SSA field offices nationwide. The extension will allow SSA to complete the installation of Herman Miller ergonomic workstations for remaining SSA offices. The proposed contract extension is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within fifteen days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract extension based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Respondents should refer to the SSA ergonomic furniture project.
