Virtual Underground Test (VUGT) Tool. The Defense Threat Reduction
Agency (DTRA) has a requirement for investigating the potential to
create an updated tool and integrated modeling tool for system
developers to enable virtual evaluation of system response in a nuclear
environment to help offset the loss of the UGT process which was
available prior to the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT). The scope
of this effort is a feasibility study using RV/RB modeling in a
nuclear environment as the test case. The tool will include first
principles and engineering based codes; ability to use user-provided
computer-assisted-design (CAD) digital files of test components;
ability to run on parallel and distributed High Power Computing
machines; and abilty to use AGT/UGT databases of material/component
properties and response updated by computational chemistry and/or above
ground radiation simulator experiment where required. It must leverage
and be compatible with other modeling and evaluation tools of DTRA,
Services, and SPOs to the maximum extent possible wherever appropriate.
An eight-month period of performance is contemplated. All responsible
sources may submit a proposal which will be considered. Requests for
copies of the solicitation must be submitted to Carol Dickerson, AMS,
