will issue Invitation for Bids for the construction of Replacement Of
Relief Well Outfall Pipes, Phase 2, Big Bend Dam, SD. Bids will be
opened on or about 20 August 1999. THIS SOLICITATION IS RESTRICTED
SMALL BUSSINESS PARTICIPATION. Contractors interested in inspecting the
site of the proposed work should contact the Project Manager's Office,
Big Bend Project, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, HC 69, Box 74,
Chamberlain, South Dakota 57325, Telephone (605) 245-2331/2332. FAX
(605) 245-3204/2255. DO NOT submit requests for plans and
specifications to the site visit personnel listed above. See "Ordering"
below. The work will include the following: (Approx. quantities) The
Contract for the Replacement of Relief Well Outfall Pipes at Big Bend
Dam near Fort Thompson, South Dakota consists of the abandoning of
existing Corrugated Metal Pipe (CMP) outfall pipes and the installation
of 18 new CMP outfall pipes along a 1600 foot long reach of the
shoreline of Lake Francis Case. The work requires excavation, backfill,
sideslope shoring, dewatering, CMP placement, asbestos removal and
repair work of existing CMP risers, riprap removal and placement, final
grading and seeding. The estimated construction cost of this project is
between $100,000 and $250,000. Contractor's Quality Control will be a
requirement in this contract. The Contractor will be required to
commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the
75 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be
included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work
in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required.
The plans and specifications are available on Compact Disk (CD-ROM) and
will be provided free of charge. It has been determined that the number
of Compact Disks be limited to one (1) per firm. Plans and
Specifications will not be provided in a printed hard copy format.
