Z -- REPAIR AND PAINTING OF EMERGENCY AND SERVICE GATES AND HYDRAULIC SYSTEM, TUTTLE CREEK, KANSAS SOL DACW41-99-B-0016 DUE 083199 POC Vera Murray (816) 983-3840 The work and services to be performed consists of performance of the work at Tuttle Creek Lake, which is located near Manhattan, Kansas. The Government is allowing the option for some of the work to be completed at the Contractor's shop. The work includes removal of four (4) service gates and one (1) emergency gate from the control tower for sandblasting and application of vinyl paint. New sacrificial anodes will be installed on all service gates. The existing grease distribution system for the gate wheels for all service gates will be replaced with new. The hydraulic cylinder, which operates Service gate #3, will be disassembled. New piston rings will be installed along with packing used to seal the piston inside the cylinder. The exterior of hydraulic cylinder #3 will be sandblasted and painted with vinyl paint. The four (4) existing counter-balance valves used to control the four service gates will be removed and replaced with new. The following items will be listed as "Optional Work", sandblast andapply vinyl paint to intake stop logs, sandblast and apply vinyl paint to downstream bulkheads, replace seals on intake stop logs, replace seals on downstream bulkheads, rebuild and paint remaining three (3) hydraulic cylinders, replace wheel track in all emergency gate slots and replace wheel track in all service may exercise some, none or all of the above options for additional work under this contract. Work requires expertise in the following: rigging, building scaffold, sandblasting, application of vinyl paint (with appropriate painting equipment) and expertise in high pressure (1000 p.s.i.) hydraulic systems. The application of vinyl paint requires special equipment and considerable expertise in the mixing and application of this type of coating. Contractor must have suitable experience with application of this paint system. Contractor will be required to meet safe working conditions as outlined in Corps Safety Manual, OSHA and other Federal, State and local criteria. Solicitations will be issued on or about 30 July 1999. Bids will be opened on or about 31 August 1999. Estimated time of completion: 720 Calendar Days.
