the Integrating Management Contractor at the Department of Energy's
(DOE's) Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site (RFETS) near Denver,
Colorado. Contractor is seeking information relevant to the design,
construction and operation Centralized Automated Modular Mobile (CAMM)
size reduction system. This system is presently being considered for
deployment at the Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site (RFETS).
The scope of this Request for Information (RFI) is to solicit, capture
and document all relevant information, experience and expertise
applicable to this project. The intent is to allow vendors, commercial
suppliers and other experts to review and comment on the design and
construction criteria currently defined for the CAMM System. It is
anticipated and understood that no single individual, group or
organization may have the knowledge, experience and expertise to
respond to all items addressed by this RFI. This, however, should not
deter or limit one's responses, as all information and data will be
used as appropriate. A Draft Functional Design Criteria document was
prepared and issued on June 30, 1999, identifying the specific design
and construction criteria and requirements associated with the CAMM
System. An RFI document was competed July, 16, 1999, that summarizes
the criteria identified in that FDC and identifies the specific
information to be evaluated, critiqued and commented on by the vendors,
commercial suppliers, and technical experts. The responses obtained
will support an in-depth Feasibility Study and a revision to the FDC.
The Feasibility Study will be used to determine the possibility of
obtaining and deploying the CAMM System consistent with the aggressive
schedule presently identified. Based on the information obtained from
the Feasibility Study, a Go/No Go decision will be made and
documented. A positive decision at that point will result in the
issuance for a Request for Proposal for the actual design, construction
and delivery of the CAMM System or its subsystems/components. THE
REQUEST FOR INFORMATION DOCUMENT CAN BE OBTAINED, BOTH A HARD COPY
AND/OR AN ELECTRONIC VERSION, BY CONTACTING MR. JEFF KUXHAUSEN,
