(FDF), a prime contractor to the Department of Energy (DOE), is hereby seeking qualified sources to provide the rental of approximately six (6) intermodal containers, commencing 8/1/99 and ending 9/15/99. FDF intends place in each intermodal containers between 4 -- 5 containers, approximately 76"L x 52"W, containing thorium contaminated waste. The intermodal containers would then be shipped, via a flat bed truck, from the DOE's Fernald Environmental Management Project (FEMP) in Cincinnati, Ohio to the DOE's Nevada Test Site (NTS) in Mercury, Nevada. This container shall be at least tested as an IP-2. The outside dimensions of the container shall be approximately the same as an ISO container (20'L x 8'W x 8.5'H). End loading capability with a clear opening height of approximately 8 feet is also required. The rated capacity (gross mass) shall be at least 42,000 pounds. The container shall be equipped externally with fork pockets and corner castings. The container shall be equipped internally with built-in holding devices, such as D-rings, to allow the securing the load inside without damage to the container. FDF will accept, but does not require, containers with top-loading capability.
