42 -- MODIFICATION TWO COMPUTER AIDED DISPATCH + RMS SYNOPSIS/SOLICITATION SOL R8140990300 DUE 080699 POC sarah_langston@nps.gov (415)561-4797 FAX: (415)561-4795 WEB: National Park Service GGNRA Procurement Opportunity, http://www.nps.gov/goga. E-MAIL: NPS Contract Specialist, sarah_langston@nps.gov. The purpose of this synopsis modification is to provide additional information to all prospective offerors AND present AMENDMENT NO. 002 the RFP 8140990300 -- COMBINED SYNOPSIS/SOLICITATION SUBMITTED JULY 6, 1999 to the CBD [Submittal No. 350777]. Questions regarding Amendments Nos 001 or 002 -- contact sarah_langston@nps.gov (415)561-4797 [fax: 415-561-4795]. Offerors must acknowledge all Amendments in their proposal documents. RFP R8140990300 is hereby amended to answer the following questions: QUESTION NO. ONE: Can you provide additional configuration information on your Public Safety Wide Area Network (WAN).(i.e. what are existing make and model of hubs, routers, switches, servers, etc. at each building? Possibly provide a network diagram?)? At what speed is data being run over the fiber links, etc. ANSWER TO Q. ONE: Because our requirement is for commercial items/non-develomental items, we believe that the information you request is outside the areas of concern. Additionally, we are reluctant to provide the requested information because of security reasons. ************ General Information about our site and our intentions: (a) We want a CAD/RMS system that is Year 2000 compliant to replace one that isn't Year 2000 compliant. We want it to be a commercial/non-developmental item. (See FAR 52.201-01 "Definitions" for what constitutes a commercial item or non developmental item. See GSA website for the FAR clauses http://www.gsa.gov/far/current/html/toc.html ) (b) We want the Records Management System to be an integral part of the CAD and also a non-developmental item and can comply with FBI reporting as previously stated. (c) We want No Data Conversion of any CAD/RMS data associated with this procurement, at this time. (d) The following is a Snapshot of our system: ** Novell Platform 4.11/5; ** Fiberoptics and T-1 backbone @ 100 MPS **; ** Windows NT 4.0 DHCP for IP. No diagram is available at this time. (e) Please note: During the months and years ahead our network will change hardware/softwareto keep up with technology, AND (f) Because of the following, we do not have specific 10 year plans that will stay stagnant. Our locations may change and our network configurations may change. **** The Presidio Trust as a fairly new organization will be making long awaited and needed internal and external building improvements and enhancements **** The Trust is taking more responsibility for many of their own activities formerly supported by NPS. This MAY require the NPS to move out of Trust owned buildings on the Presidio and relocate elsewhere; **** Government Downsizing and re-organizing MAY impact the NPS at GGNRA. QUESTION NO. TWO: You also mention communications devices 'are four to five years old and are reaching the conclusion of their serviceable life'. Can you detail what are the types of communication devices being referred to here? (i.e. are they modems, CISCO routers, transport services from a local carrier, LAN, WAN, etc.?) ANSWER TO Q TWO: See Answer to Q One. The sentence referred to was placed there to indicate that we thought the only reuseables were workstations. QUESTION NO. THREE: It seems the basis of this RFP is to install a brand new CAD/RMS system onto the existing LAN/WAN infrastructure. However, at some points in the addenda, as outlined in my question #2 above, the RFP also implies modifications to the LAN/WAN architectures and equipment as well. In particular to handle demand/bandwidth growth of the CAD/RMS system over the next 10 years. Is upgrading the LAN's and Public Safety WAN, to support the increased demand, also part of this RFP? ANSWER TO Q THREE: No. (Refer to Answer to Q One above for further information.) Posted 07/15/99 (W-SN355005). (0196)
