The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) plans to award a purchase
order to The Eno Transportation Foundation to develop an annual program
of two workshops on integrating public and private sector freight
planning. The workshops will be held in regions that have exemplary
mechanisms in place that demonstrates effective cooperation between
freight carriers, the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and
state Department of Transportation (DOT). The Eno Foundation has
assembled a unique team from the public and private sector to examine
key elements of intermodal freight transportation and the metropolitan
planning process, with the aim of improving, understanding and
building sustainable partnerships between MPO_s and freight interests.
The organizations and associations formed by the Eno Foundation are
critical to the success of the seminars and these are the only
organizations representing their particular constituencies (State
DOT_s, MPO_s and private sector intermodal industry). Because the
Eno-led consortium consists of associations and organizations
representing their particular constituencies, they are the only known
source available that can develop the workshops on integrating public
and private sector freight planning. This is a Simplified Acquisition
and the anticipated award date is July 29, 1999. Posted 07/15/99
