is hereby provided of the Government's intention to procure a new
engine generator at the U.S. Border Station, Champlain, New York. The
successful contractor shall furnish all necessary labor, materials and
supervision. The proposed construction includes disconnect of feeder
supplying emergency power from Customs Building to Warehouse Building.
Provide 275 kW engine generator, weatherproof enclosure, 1000-gallon
sub-base fuel tank and other accessories mounted on an exterior
concrete foundation. Provide emergency and normal distribution panel
boards, three automatic transfer switches and a load side main
distribution panel board in the Warehouse Building Mechanical Room.
Modify normal power feeder from the Customs Building to the Warehouse
Building panel boards and equipment feeders to accommodate location of
new electrical equipment. Provide transient voltage surge suppressor
and generator remote annunciator. Phase equipment installation to
assure interruptions of power do not exceed two hours.The performance
period shall not exceed 16 weeks. This procurement is open to
competition among both large and small business concerns pursuant to
the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. The magnitude
of this construction project is between $100,000.00 and $250,000.00.
The applicable SIC code is 1731 and the small business size standard is
$7.0 million. Copies of the specifications and drawings should be
available tentatively July 30, 1999 and the bid opening date is August
31, 1999. The cost for each complete copy of the plans and
specification is $45.00. Make checks payable to the General Services
Administration. Checks will not be cashed provided a complete and clean
copy of the plans and specifications is returned to the agency not
later than five business days following bid opening. Please submit all
requests in writing to the attention of Harriet Mortas at the address
provided herein. Contractors are requested to provide a street address
as drawings and specifications cannot be delivered to a post office
