70 -- RACK MOUNT TOUCH MONITORS SOL RFQ-10-99-0050 DUE 072799 POC Timothy W. Pugh, Contract Specialist, Phone (407) 867-8563, Fax (407) 867-1188, Email PughTW@kscgws00.ksc.nasa.gov WEB: Click here for the latest information about this notice, http://nais.nasa.gov/EPS/KSC/date.html#RFQ-10-99-0050. E-MAIL: Timothy W. Pugh, PughTW@kscgws00.ksc.nasa.gov. THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR Rack Mount Touch Monitors. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to answer the following questions received from potential quoters: Question 1 -- Please advise if the requirement is for LCD or CRT monitors. Answer 1 -- CRT. Question 2 -- Whom is the manufacturer and what is their telephone number? Answer 2 -- There is no specific manufacturer for this requirement. Question 3 -- Is the delivery for all 100 units 45 days? If not, is there a preferred delivery period of a certain amount of units throughout a specified amount of time? Answer 3 -- Yes. Offerors that can not submit their best pricing meeting the required delivery date for all 100 units should submit information in writing by July 20, 1999 as to the quantity that can be delivered within 45 days. Information received will be considered in a decision whether to amend the solicitation's required delivery date. Question 4 -- Is there a specific length that the tethered remote control must be? Most displays of this size are not normally outfitted for I/R remote control. Can you provide more information on the remote control unit requirement / functionality? Answer 4 -- Monitor controls are needed when initially setting up the displays. However, controls normally accessible from the front of the monitor allow for easy disruption of the touchscreen calibration. The solution is to make a removable control pad that the technician can connect and remove as needed. The connection for this control pad would be via the rear of the monitor with a tethered remote control (~3 ft tether) which would allow the technician to view the front of the monitor while working the controls. This tethered control would specifically allow control of video size and position on the screen. The power switch would not be tethered and would only be accessible from the rear. An infrared remote (I/R) control is not intended. Options that allow the same functionality will be considered. Question 5 -- The synopsis indicates a reqiurement for a 19" diagonal flat screen monitor. Is that the viewable image size or overall CRT size? Answer 5 -- 19" is for overall CRT size. Question 6 -- The 8 rack unit (RU) specified in the solicitation does not correspond to the 15.5" maximum panel height specified. Please explain. Answer 6 -- The specification is hereby changed to reflect: "total panel height 15.5" maximum". Quesion 7 -- What is the environment (i.e. office, shop, mobile units) in which the monitors will be used? Answer 7 -- The monitors will be used in a humidity / air condition controlled office environment. Question 8 -- Do you absolutely need the Wave Touchscreen? Does the Resistive or Capacitive technology touchscreens meet your requirements? Answer 8 -- The sensitivity responsiveness of the Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) technology touchscreen is required, therefore sesistive and capacitive technology touchscreens are not acceptable. Additional questions regarding this acquisition must be submitted in writing no later than July 19, 1999. The due date for receipt of offers is not extended. Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on 12 July 1999.
