complete design/engineering from 30% complete to 100% (note: civil
engineering has already been completed to the 100% level) and to
construct a new approximately 20,000 sq. ft. new main post office
building on a 6 acre site. Work includes the following: a retail store,
workroom, loading dock and equipment, support areas, and covered
carrier parking. The building will be constructed using a steel frame,
metal stud with concrete block/precast concrete exterior walls,
concrete exterior walls, concrete slab on grade, four ply built-up roof
system, standing seam metal roofs at open loading areas, translucent
glazing at the main entrance, metal stud and gypsum board interior
partitions and acoustical ceilings, roll-up sectional and sliding
interior partitions, door hardware, ceramic tile, resilient flooring,
carpeting, custom cabinets, glass storefront systems, glass block,
painting. Complete plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems will include
gas roof top units, power, lighting, and alarm systems, two security
camera systems, and fully sprinkled with fire protection systems. Also
included in the development of the 6 acre site is parking for
customers, employees, postal vehicles, loading dock maneuvering area,
mail drop box lane, and complete landscaping, fencing and signage. Site
development includes paying/obtaining all permits, tap connections and
utility necessary for connections/development. As part of the
solicitation, the USPS is furnishing certain preliminary drawings,
surveys and other items to describe the extent to the quality of the
work required. The design and construction of the subject facility
shall meet or exceed the level of quality indicated in these documents.
Included in the contract, the design/build entity shall at a minimum
complete the design and construction to fully comply with all
applicable local codes and ordinances. The solicitation documents
provided may exceed local code requirements, in case of conflict with
local code the more restrictive requirements shall govern. The
estimated price range is between $2,300,000 and $2,600,000 with
completion within 300 calendar days after receipt of the Notice to
Proceed. Offers are due August 19, 1999 @ 3:00 PM. Plans and
specifications will be available on or about July 20th at a cost of
$125.00 per set, Non-Refundable. Make Checks/Money Orders payable to:
U.S. Postal Service, Disbursing Officer, referencing Solicitation

opened. The number of offers received, the identity of the offerors,
the amount of any offer, or relative standing of the offer will not be
disclosed to anyone except those Postal personnel whose official
