Institution is seeking firms to furnish all supervision, labor,
materials, tools, equipment and services required for Roof Repair/
Skyight Installation and Facade Repointing at the National Museum of
Natural History, located at 10th and Constitution Avenue, NW,
Washington, DC, as set forth on the Drawings and Specifications dated
June 2, 1999, and the Drawings and Specifications dated May 28, 1999,
for the respective projects. The Scope of Work for Base Bid and
alternates includes, at a minimum, as follows: BASE BID-ROOF: Selective
demolition, asbestos abatement, lead abatement, removal of existing
roof slates and monel roofing; removal and reinstallation of existing
fans and ductwork; temporary fencing; installation of vapor barrier and
insulation system, roof slating, copper roofing, skylight framing
systems and glazing; roof drain replacement, weather and security
protection of exisitng building; phasing; and any work not identified
as an add alternate. BASE BID-FACADE: Repointing of entire facade of
the main building and the east and west loading dock ramp walls, raking
of exisitng martar from all indicated stone and brick masonry joints
and repoint with new mortar, removal of aluminized paint, black mastic
joints form copper flashing, repoint joint under flashing, replace
sealant from exposed joints with sealant and lead T's, removal of
loading codk ramp wall coping and resetting in new mortar, removal of
sealant from perimeter of windows and doors and replace with new
sealant, removal of sealant form all flashing and joints between main
building and the wings and replace with new, and any work not
identified as an add alternate. ADDITIVE ALTERNATE No. 1P: Main
Building; Weather cap Lead T-System. ADDITIVE ALTERNATE No. 2P: East
and West Wings; Repointing, same as Main Building Base Bid. ADDITIVE
ALTERNATVE No. 2P: East and East Wings; Weather cap Lead T-System.

written request from the Smithsonian Institution, Office of
Contracting, 955 L'Enfant Plaza, SW, Suite P-114, Washington, DC 20024,
Attn:Code 17. Copies of Drawings and Specifications can be purchased on
a non-refundable basis from Capitol Technigraphics, 1015 Wisconsin
Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20007, (2020625-0250. Mailing and shipping
are in addition to the reproduction costs. All firms interested in
submitting a proposal for this solicitation need copies of the Drawings
and Specifications, all of which will be available approximately 15
days after the publication of this notice. Firms responding to this
announcement will be required to submit Cost and Technical Proposals
which will be evaluated in accordance with the following factors, as
described in the RFP: 1)Detailed Plan of Accomplishment(15 pts.),
2)Quality Assurance Plan (10 pts.), 3)Key Personnel and Subcontractor
(10 pts.), 4)Similar Experience and Past Performance (15 pts.), and
Cost Proposal and Schedule of Values (50 pts). The estimated price
range for this project is between $6,600,000. and $7,300,000. Posted
