The U.S. Department of Commerce intends to contract for the purchase of the following equipment from Multi-Technical Services Inc.(MTS): 36 each 7228 IPA Audio Isolation Distribution Amplifiers (IDA) -- Base Unit, 72 each 4412 DA Expansion Isolation Distribution Amplifier Kits (IDA). MTS is the only known source of supply for these items. The items will be purchased and delivered to the National Weather Service (NWS), Central Region Headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri. The intended procurement is for supplies for which the Government intends to acquire from one source of supply under the authority of 41 USC253 (c) (1). These IDA units will be connected to the audio output of digital recorders originally designed and manufactured by MTS. These devices are specifically designed to match the digital recorders used by the NWS for its weather radio broadcast system. The Government knows of no other company capable of making these unique application weather radio recorders. This is not a request for proposals and there is no solicitation available at this time. This acquisition is being conducted pursuant to the guidelines set forth in FAR part 13. The Government reserves the right to solicit bids based on receipt of affirmative responses to this notice or issue an order to MTS whichever is determined to be more advantageous to the Government without further notice. All interested parties must respond to this announcement within fifteen (15) calendar days of its publication.
