1 April 1999, the CECOM Acquisition Center-Washington extended the
ordering period for Contract Number DAHC94-94-D-0003 (Automatic
Identification Technology-I) with Intermec Technologies Corporation,
from 25 March 1999 through 30 September 1999, with a maximum dollar
threshold of $9,999,850 for the extension period. The CECOM Acquisition
Center-Washington intends to increase the maximum dollar threshold for
this extension period to $19,450,917. The extension is necessary in
order to continue to have an ordering vehicle to maintain continuity of
operations for the customers of PM AIT until start-up of the Automatic
Identification Technology II contract. The AIT-I contract requires
commercially produced automatic identification technologies, to include
bar code equipment and micro-circuitry devices, software and services
to be made available to system designers and integrators throughout
DOD, and Coast Guard. The equipment includes Data collection devices;
bar code scanners, 2-D scanners, wands, slot readers, and wedges;
printers (i.e., laser, thermal/thermal transfer); communications
capabilities (Narrow Band and Spread Spectrum radio frequency networks;
telephone and wireless modems; host computer controller); voice
recognition and storage devices (PCMCIA and optical laser memory cards;
Integrated Circuit Cards (ICC) and associated readers/writers). The
software includes equipment operating system, application generating
software and application translation software. Services include
technical engineering services, maintenance, documentation, training,
translation of small bar code applications in the use with existing bar
code systems and development of bar code application programs. The
