The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking a contractor to maintain the VA Headquarters Library collection (health sciences) and automated catalog/circulation systems and other records and associated files; to provide interlibrary loan service; reference service backup; and in the absence of the reference librarian/library manager, full scale reference service. The library provides standard library services such as journal routing, circulation, periodic acquisitions lists, interlibrary loan (ILL), reference and online search service, maintaining reference and circulating collections, journal check-in files, and an automated catalog/circulation system. The collection includes approximately 10,000 books, 11,000 journal volumes for 500 titles (in both print and microfilm format), and 600 audiovisuals (AVs). The contractor should have recent experienced and specialized knowledge of established principles followed by federal and health sciences libraries and standard library practices, e.g., those of the American Library Association, Library of Congress, and the National Library of Medicine.
