The project consists of the reconstruction of 1.6 kilometers of the Natchez Trace Parkway, from Interstate 55 (I-55) to US Route 51; drainage improvements within Purple Creek; the construction of a new Parkway overpass; and the reconstruction of the I-55 connector ramps. The project work includes bridge construction, box culvert replacement, asphalt removal, roadway excavation, placement of aggregate base and hot asphalt concrete material, construction traffic control, and other miscellaneous work. Principal items of work and approximate quantities are as follows: Silt fence: 3,000 m; Clearing and grubbing: 5 ha; Removal of asphalt pavement: 10,500 m2; Embankment construction: 126,000 m3; Structure excavation: 560 m3; Subgrade stabilization with lime: 16,100 m2; Riprap: 1,700 tons; Aggregate base, 250mm depth: 17,500 m2 ; Asphalt base: 4,100 tons; Asphalt surface: 2,500 tons; Precast prestressed piles: 805 m; Structural concrete: 660 m3; Reinforced concrete box culvert: 70 m; Turf establishment: 5 ha.
