Architect/Engineer services for the design of a new Processing &
Distribution Center in Bronx, New York. The project consists of
investigation, design, drawings, specifications and proposal documents
for construction of a new facility of approximately 301,000 gross
square feet, and an employee parking structure at the same site to
accommodate 405 cars Demolition and asbestos/lead abatement is required
on the existing building. Suppliers are invited to visit the site
located at 815 Hutchinson River Parkway, Bronx, New York 10465-9731.
Suppliers must make an appointment to visit the site by contacting Mr.
Lou DeNapoles, at (718) 321-5869. Separate demolition/abatement
documents (drawings and specifications) for construction will be
required. The estimated total project construction cost is $50 million
to $65 million. The basic contract will be for the completion of the
Concept Phase (30%). Additionally, the contract will contain options
for design completion and construction administrative services. The
qualifications of firms for this project are as follows: (1) Experience
in projects of comparable size and scope in the city of New York and
adjoining states; (2) Architectural firms shall have a minimum of seven
licensed architects in the office where the work is performed; (3)
In-house engineering and out-of-house consulting engineering firm(s)
shall have at least two licensed engineers in each of the following
disciplines: Civil, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical in the office
where the work will be performed; (4) Prime and civil, structural,
mechanical and electrical engineers shall have worked together on at
least three projects of similar size and scope; (5) Autocadd Version 14
or later. Comparable projects will be considered as industrial plants,
150,000 gross square feet or greater, and costing more than $30
million, Firms that have the qualifications to perform the services
described above are invited to submit three copies of a completed
SF255, Architect/Engineer and Related services Questionnaire for
Specific Project, and three copies of a completed SF254,
Architect/Engineer and Related Services Questionnaire, for each of its
proposed consultants to the office, received no later than August 31,
1999. The selection will be conducted by using both the submitted
SF255 and SF254s. Interested firms with more than one office must
indicate on their SF255 the staffing composition of the office in which
the work will be performed. Consideration will be given to firms,
including consultants, responding to the advertisement in accordance
with the following order of preference: (1) Local area ( within in the
city of New York), (2) Within 50 mile radius of New York City; (3)
State of New York; and (4) All other. The contract contains a
requirement for firms to provide evidence of current insurance of
$1,000,000 for errors and omissions per claim. Participation of
minority-owned and woman-owned businesses in U.S. Postal Service
architect engineer selections is encouraged. It is prohibited to pay
any fee, commission, percentage or brokerage fee to any person or firm
contingent upon or resulting from award of a contract for this
project. No other general notification of this project will be made.
Submissions will not be retained or returned. This is not a request for
proposals. Award of any of the options is contingent on final approval
