The Social Security Administration (SSA) staffs a number of internal information Technology (IT) Help Desks whose purpose is to provide assistance to end users of IT within the agency. Within SSA, the end user population is 65,000+. SSA's Help Desks also provide support to IT users within many state agencies, bringing the total end user population supported to over 100,000. SSA requires a product that will, in one integrated package supported by one database, provide automated tools for supporting help desk operations, problem management and tracking, change management and inventory/assessment management. This acquisition will be conducted under FAR Part 13.5 Simplified Acquisition -- Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. Therefore, any interested vendors must reference SSA-RFQ-99-HELPDESK and submit their request for solicitation either via e-mail to cynthia.spencer@ssa.gov, faxed to 410-966-5982 or regular mail (including hand delivered) addressed as cited above by August 11, 1999. SSA will be releasing a Request for Quote number RFQ-99- HELPDESK for the acquisition of such a commercial off-the- shelf (COTS) software tool on or about August 11, 1999.
