D=142. E-MAIL: Karlitta Reese, karlitta.reese@bep.treas.gov. The Bureau
of Engraving and Printing (BEP) has interest and is seeking sources for
high-density storage and material handling systems. The storage system
will be used to store finished stamps for the United States Postal
Service. The stamps will be in various postal products, for example,
100-stamps coils, stamp booklets, sheets, 3,000-stamp coils. The stamp
products will be in cartons, stacked and strapped onto pallets. At
this time, the dimensions vary within the indicated ranges: 48 -- 51
inches (length) by 40 -- 44 inches (width) by 48 -- 69 inches (height).
The weights of the different products range from 945 pounds to 2,500
pounds. The storage system may be limited to one floor level or it may
be expanded into a three-level high-bay storage area that is, the
basement, 1st floor and 2nd floor. However, the existing support
columns shall be taken into account. The storage system shall maximize
the capacities of the storage area. The material handling system may
be manually operated or fully automated, but it must support the
maximization of stamp storage. The storage system shall be able to
identify all pallets to unique locations. The Bureau of Engraving and
Printing's Management Information System (BEPMIS) shall be used to
maintain the inventory of the storage system. The Bureau is interested
in conducting a site visit with the possible sources of the areas
under consideration for the proposed high-density storage. All requests
for site visits must be made in writing to the Contract Specialist by
fax at (202) 874-2200 or e-mail at Karlitta.reese@bep.treas.gov. Posted
