(907) 267-1320 FAX (9070 267-1434 The Bureau of Land Management,
Northern Field Office, Alaska, has a requirement for design and
fabrication services to produce interpretive wayside panels for eight
recreation sites along the Steese Highway, in Alaska. The Steese
Highway is a 150 mile, mostly gravel highway form Fairbanks to Circle,
Alaska. From the highway visitors can access the White Mountains
National Recreation Area, (WMNR) Steese National Conservation Area
(SNCA). Information kiosks were installed at the recreation sites in
1998. This RFQ address the interpretive exhibit needs. The objective of
the exhibits is to enhance the highway and campground traveler's
experience by providing interpretive messages on natural, cultural, and
historic resources viewable along the highway and in the campground.
Topics include: introductions to Alaskan ecosystems, wildlife
identification, gold mining history, and sub-arctic phenomena. BLM will
install the panels in the Hopewell Manufactured bases. The SIC code for
this procurement is 7389. The bid packets will be available on August
9,1999. This closing date for this RFQ is August 27,1999 at 3:00p.m.
