for Disease Control and Prevention intends to procure the services of
a vendor to perform the following: (1) Furnish CDC written protocols
for producing and purifying in vivo grown bacilli; (2) Report
characteristics of defined inoculum for in vivo grown bacilli; (3)
Harvest and ship purified in vivo grown tubercle bacilli to CDC.
MINIMUM VENDOR QUALIFICATIONS: Extensive experience in the
aerosol-challenge murine model of tuberculosis and virulence testing of
M. tuberculosis isolates and in the safe handling of M. tuberculosis.
Ensure all studies involving M. tuberculosis are conducted in approved
Biosafety Level 3 laboratories, as detailed in "Biosafety in
Microbiology and Biomedical Laboratories" HHS Publication 93-8395.
Comply with the PHS Policy of Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals
and file an Animal Welfare Assurance with the Office for Protection of
Research Risks at the National Institutes of Health. This requirement
is 100% set-aside for small business. All interested parties are
requested to submit a written request to be provided an RFQ package.
