66 -- 400MHZ GHX NANOPROBE COMBINED WITH MAS PNEUMATICS AND ACCESSORIES POC Regina M. Herchak, Contracting Officer, Lisa M. Botella, Point of Contact, (215)233-6551, fax (215) 233-6558 The USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), intends to negotiate solely with Varian, Inc. in Palo Alto, CA to furnish and deliver FOB Destination, Within Consignee's Premises, and install at the USDA, ARS, Eastern Regional Research Center, in Wyndmoor, (Philadelphia), PA for a 400MHz gHX Nanoprobe combined with MAS Pneumatics, and accessories. The probe/MAS will be used for general scientific research at the ERRC. The probe/MAS must be compatible with the Varian UnityPlus (a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer) System and Software. The probe/MAS shall be able to combine the high resolution probe technology for very small liquid (40 microliter) samples with magic angle sample (MAS) spinning. The probe/MAS must include a deuterium lock channel, an actively shielded magic angle pulsed field gradient, and operate over a 50 degree C temperature range. The probe/MAS shall have a resolution and lineshape specifications for proton (spinning lineshape) are: 50% less than or equal to 0.6 Hz; 0.55% less than or equal to 8.0 Hz; 0.11% less than or equal to 13.0 Hz. Signal to Noise (proton sensitivity) specifications are greater than or equal to 80:1 for 0.1% Ethylbenzene in CDCl3. The pulse width for proton should be less than or equal to 5 microseconds. The Variable Temperature Range should be from 0 to 50C with a sample volume of 40 microliters. The system includes: one (1) each 400MHz gHX Nanoprobe; one (1) each MAS Pneumatics, one (1) each 4mm, 40ul sample tube for MAS microprobe, one (1) each 4mm, 40ul sample tube cap, and one (1) each 4mm, 40ul sample tube drive ring. Delivery and installation shall be completed within 28 weeks after receipt of the order at the Wyndmoor, PA location. The contractor shall provide a minimum one-day on-site training on the probe. The contractor shall provide two (2) sets each of the user and installation manuals. The contractor shall provide a 90-day standard commercial warranty on the equipment. Companies with the demonstrated capability and financial capacity to provide and service such equipment must submit a written substantive statement outlining the Company's and systems' capabilities to the Contracting Officer within 15 days of publication of this notice.
