70 -- INTELLIGENT MAIL INSERTING/FINISHING SYSTEM SOL RFP-FMS-2869 DUE 072899 POC Mary Lanier (202)874-6888 The U.S. Department of the Treasury, Financial Management Service (FMS), intends to award a sole-source commercial item contract to Gunther International, 1 Winneden Road, Norwich, CT 06360, based on 41 USC 253(1) of one-responsible source. This procurement will provide for the purchase of one (1) post-print, intelligent mail inserting/finishing system that will match on both linear and 2-Dimenional barcodes and fold and enclose U.S. Treasury checks and other documents into envelopes for mailing at the Birmingham Debt Management Operations Center. The required Inserting/Finishing System must utilize a two-dimensional barcode technology to meet the needs of allowing for more information to be encoded in a smaller area, assuring that document matching is complete and error-free, providing for an extensive audit trail, and allowing for fast changeover of feed stations. Also required is the capability for field upgradability to accommodate both flat and folded mail. No solicitation is available for this requirement. The estimated award date is August 1999 with an estimated delivery date of December 15, 1999 and a possible one year option for maintenance.
