B -- RANGE EVALUATION SYSTEM FOR M1 TANK AND M2 BRADLEY CREWS SOL DAAB07-99-R-K612 DUE 091599 POC Al VanLanduyt (703)704-1360 and Cpt Brian Cox (703) 704-2302 E-MAIL: Technical POC, bcox@nvl.army.mil. NVESD is looking for organizations interested in utilizing the basic design that has been developed and/or improving on our existing capabilities to evaluate the performance of the M1 Tank and M2 Bradley crews during range qualification under the following four (4) configurations: Any information relative to schedule, delivery and price would also be helpful. All proprietary information should be marked as such. 1. Tower Sensor System (TSS) Automated 2nd Generation FLIR mounted on top of the range tower FLIR automatically slews to the next target Provides validation / verification of target hit Ditigal video included in After Action Review TSS also included Tower Recording Module (with GPS Antenna) which receives "time stamps" from evaluator and is used to focus the AAR tape to the specific time segments of interest to the evaluator / crew. 2. Vehicle Recording System (VRS) Master Recording Module (GPS Antenna, digital recorder) Through Sight Video camera Two miniature cameras that mount inside of turret to record crew actions 3. Dismounted Recording System 24-hour digital recording of dismounted operations Consists of backpack with GPS Antenna, digital recorder and helmet mounted thermal imager 4. After Action Review Editing Station Takes digital information from the tower sensor, vehicle recording system and dismounted thermal imager and produces a synchronized, simultaneous digitalAAR videotape on a 35" quad screen television. An AAR videotape (analog) is given to the crew to take back to their home station and a single unit tape is compiled for the unit commander.. Possibility exists for the use of Hard Drives or another medium to record video from tactical vehicles. Requirement would be for hard drives to record images from two (2) crew cameras and one (1) through sight video camera. Actual recording times are about 10-20 minutes. However, as the system currently exists, the digital recorders are turned on at the start of an exercise and are left running for up to 90 minutes. CURRENT SYSTEM:1 x digital recorder on Tank/Bradley 1 x digital recorder from Tower FLIR EDITING STATION: 3 digital recorders and two analog recorders 1 tape from vehicle (Digital) 1 tape from the tower FLIR (Digital) 1 blank tape becomes the new edited tape (Digital) 2 analog tapes become part of the unit home package This Request for Information (RFI) is for information and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation on the part of the US Army CECOM (NVESD). The purpose of this RFI is to identify potential sources that may be interested in and capable of performing the work described herein. US Army CECOM, NVESD does not intend to award a contract on the basis of responses nor otherwise pay for the preparation of any information submitted or for the use of such information.
