It is the intent of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) to procure assistance in: (1) verify, edit and approve or reissue an estimated 10,000 to 15,000 purchase orders. Using a printout of data elements, the contractor shall recall each converted purchase order in the Voyager system by order number; review and verify the data loaded against the printout and perform additional record editing as needed before approving or reissuing the purchase order; (2) edit Integrated Library System (ILS) records to move converted data to the proper USMARC field; (3) edit approximately 3,000 USMARC 510 fields in the bibliographic record to encode the years of coverage in NLM'S databases. Working from textual printouts, the Contractor shall convert the data into the correct USMARC formatted subfields; (4) review a backlog of claims; maintain the appropriate data elements in Voyager and enter valid claims in one or move vendor systems; (5) check-in backlog of lower priority journals using the check-in module of the Voyager ILS; (6) upgrade approximately 3,000 bibliographic records for non-NLM titles (i.e. Regional Holdings) by overlaying the NLM database record with the corresponding bibliographic record from OCLC; matching on the OCLC control number as identified on a printout provided by NLM, and editing specified fields in the imported MARC record to conform to NLM local practice. Substantial experience with serials bibliographic, acquisitions, or cataloging projects, and the Voyager Integrated Library System (ILS) is highly desirable, as well as thorough knowledge of the USMARC format. Current knowledge of USMARC content designation is required. Request for Quotations (RFQ) Number NLM 99-087/UHP will be issued on or about August 10, 1999.
